Abstract:The parenting dilemma of severe mental disorders patients is more difficult than general population. The fertility rate is lower as compared with general population. Moreover, the risk of several mental disorders, psychological and physical condition increased among their offsprings. For patients with severe mental disorders, they were given the meaning of life as well as the social and economic pressure as a parent. In European countries and America, some patients with mental health disorders will lose their custody of their children. However, there is no such related legislation at present in China. Interventions and supports focused on family maximally meet the need of parents and children.
