Abstract:Idiopathic scoliosis (IS) often occurs in adolescence, leading to physical deformities and dysfunction, while its etiology is still unknown. We reviewed previous studies on the correlation between IS and joint hypermobility, and found that joint hypermobility existed significantly in patients with IS. However, there is still a lack of further studies on the causal relationship between them, besides the impact of the severity. Further study on the potential relationship between IS and joint hypermobility will benefit the study on etiology, early prevention, and intervention of IS.
