1 Screen exposure and early child development
ZHAO Jin, ZHANG Yiwen
DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.2095-4301.2019.01.001
Screen exposure has become an increasingly prominent issue in the lifestyle of children and adolescents worldwide, and its impact on children's cognition and language varies from different ages. Long exposure to screen media before one year of age has a definite negative impact on language development. A comparative study of screen exposure at different ages will lead to attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder symptoms. The mechanism mainly involves the transfer deficit of children before 2 years of age of screen learning. Therefore, the time of screen use can be referred to the recommendations of screen exposure guidelines in various countries.

6 Analysis of traditional Chinese medicine causes of tic disorders and its perinatal risk factors  based on theory of “Waixiang Neigan"
HAO Juanjuan, WU Min, ZHU Pengcheng, JIANG Keyu
DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.2095-4301.2019.01.002
Objective To investigate the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) etiology of tic disorders(TD) and perinatal risk factors. Methods  Based on the TCM congenital factors and the theory of “Waixiang Neigan”, the etiology of perinatal related  TD was analyzed. A total of 128 patients with TD were enrolled in Xinhua Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from July 2015 to January 2016. And then  the perinatal risk factors were analyzed and compared with those of healthy children. Results Malnutrition in the perinatal period of mothers was a risk factor for TD. The perinatal malnutrition of TD mothers was 9.61 times higher than that of the balanced nutrition group. The value of 90%CI was 1.20-76.97. Conclusion The congenital factors related to perinatal abnormalities are important etiologies of TD. Maternal malnutrition is a risk factor that causes the fetus to become ill and  the balance of nutrition should be paid attention to during
this period.

XU Zhening, ZHAO Jialin, CAI Dan
DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.2095-4301.2019.01.003
Objective To explore roles of self-emotional perception, others' emotional perception, regulation of emotion, and application ability in emotional intelligence on the depression and anxiety of adolescents in the transition period of primary to secondary school and the mediating role of prosocial behavior. Methods A total of 1 042 sixth grade students in Shanghai were investigated for one year. We used emotional intelligence scale, perceived social competence scale, and transitional adolescent depression and anxiety scale to assess the effects.  Results The abilities of regulation and application reduced the feelings of anxiety and depression among adolescents. The ability of emotional perception increased prosocial behaviors among the adolescents and reduced their  depression and anxiety indirectly. Conclusion Emotional intelligence reduces depression and anxiety among adolescents during their transition from primary to secondary school. The effect is also partially mediated by prosocial behavior.

MAO Xuanxia, TANG Wenjing, XIE Qi, CAI Wei, SHEN Xiuhua
DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.2095-4301.2019.01.004
Objective To evaluate the effect of nutrition education intervention on the growth of elementary schoolchildren in rural China. Methods A 2-year nutrition education interventional study was conducted with 244 schoolchildren (80 in the intervention school and 164 in the control schools) in a rural area of China receiving government subsidies. Nutrition education intervention included the modification of school meal menus, peer support activities, nutrition-related handbooks and posters, and nutrition courses. The measurable outcomes included the height-for-age Z-score (HAZ), the BMI-for-age Z-score (BAZ), and nutrient intakes. Results During the 2-year nutrition education intervention, the BAZ of the intervention group (0.04±0.88) significantly increased compared to that of the control group (-0.30±0.81, P<0.01). After adjusting for baseline BAZ and other potential confounders, the effect of nutrition education intervention on BAZ persisted (standardized coefficient: 0.322; P=0.000). Protein and other nutrient intakes substantially increased for the intervention group compared to the control group during the 2-year intervention. Conclusion Our findings suggest that nutrition education, in addition to government subsidies, is beneficial for the growth of schoolchildren in rural China.

24 Relationship between marital conflicts and children's psychological adjustment: moderating effect of children's psychological resilience
ZHOU Tong, LIU Junsheng
DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.2095-4301.2019.01.005
Objective To explore the moderating role of children's psychological resilience in the relationships between marital conflicts and children's psychological adjustment. Methods A total of 514 children from grades 4th, 5th, and 6th were recruited to complete the children's perception of inter-parental conflict scale, Illinois loneliness questionnaire, childhood depression inventory, self-perception profile for children, and Connor-Davidson resilience scale. Results ① The marital conflict was  positively associated with loneliness and depression, and negatively associated with self-esteem. ② The influence of marital conflicts on children's psychological adjustment was moderated by children's psychological resilience. High psychological resilience can alleviate the influence of parents' marital conflicts on children's psychological adjustment. Conclusion As a protective factor, resilience can moderate the relationship between marital conflicts and children's psychological adjustment.

GAN Yuexin, ZHANG Jun, CHEN Dan
DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.2095-4301.2019.01.006
Objective To explore the relationship between physical activity during early pregnancy and postpartum depressive symptoms. Methods We conducted a prospective study of 2 580 women and explored the relationship between physical activity during early pregnancy (0-16 weeks) and postpartum depressive symptoms at 6 weeks. Physical activity was assessed during the first trimester by the social support inventory and postpartum depressive symptoms at 6 weeks were assessed using the Edinburgh postnatal depression scale. The prevalence of postpartum depression symptoms in this study was 11.4% (cutoff: 9/10). In the statistical analysis process, continuous variables (log-converted total scores) and categorical variables (divided the total score into four equal groups) were used for analysis. A logistic regression model was used to analyze the relationship between physical activity and postpartum depressive symptoms. Results  Compared with the low physical activity group, the risk of postpartum depressive symptoms decreased in the moderate physical activity group (OR=0.74, 95% CI: 0.57-0.95; aOR=0.77, 95% CI: 0.59-1.01). Compared with the low physical activity group, the risk of postpartum depressive symptoms increased in the high physical activity group (OR=1.35, 95% CI: 0.51-3.55; aOR=1.24, 95% CI: 0.45-3.40). Conclusion The association between physical activity during early pregnancy and postpartum depressive symptoms may vary with the magnitude of the activity.

42 Status quo and advances of physiological hand-shape in children
OU Jiaxin,CHI Xia
DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.2095-4301.2019.01.008
Physiological hand-shape refers to the physiological measurement indicators in the development of hand, including the wrist thickness, palm length, hand width and finger length or digit ratio, through a coordination and cooperation of hand muscles, blood vessels and nerves, to complete a series of simple or complex actions. Physiological hand-shape plays an important role in children's fine motor skill, dominant hands, handwriting skill, height prediction, hormone levels, etc. So the evaluation of children's physiological hand-shape is necessary in the assessment of children's growth and development process. We summarize the research situation and development of physiological hand-shape in children, providing a basis for the future clinical and scientific research.
