Abstract:Being a new and advanced scientific apparatus, magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)has confirmed the close relationship between brain activation and behaviour. However,it was introduced in a pioneering project(The utilization of neuro-cognitive science for the improvement of language education in Hong Kong)to gather neuroscientific data for teaching and learning. To collect accurate data, functional MRI(fMRI)requires the participants to lie motionless during the scanning process. Hence, children are particularly difficult to be involved in fMRI studies given their fidget. The author hopes to share her experience in conducting children-targeted fMRI study with fellow researchers. This paper introduces briefly the mechanism of fMRI and discusses the proper techniques on conducting fMRI study on children.
