Abstract:Objective To explore the application of comfort care to children bronchoscopy and its influence on nursing satisfaction. Methods A total of 240 pediatric patients who underwent bronchoscopy were selected in Pediatric Respiratory Department of Xinhua Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, from January 2018 to June 2019. They were divided into control group and observation group according to the sequence of their operation time. Each group included 120 children. The control group patients received routine nursing, while the observation group received comfort nursing. We compared the modified Yale perioperative anxiety scale (m-YPAS) scores, postoperative complications, and caregivers' satisfaction with specialized care before and after nursing. Results The m-YPAS scores of children in the observation group at three time points including preoperative visit (T1), entering operation room (T2) and 3 h after operation (T3) were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). The complication rate of laryngeal edema, cyanosis, hemorrhage, and fever in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (10.0% vs 20.8%, P<0.05). The nursing satisfaction of caregivers in the observation group was higher than that in the control group in psychological support, nurse-patient communication, active service, nursing skills, health education, and prevention of complications (P<0.05). Conclusion Comfort nursing during children bronchoscopy can reduce perioperative anxiety and postoperative complications, and improve the satisfaction of caregivers with specialized nursing work.
