Abstract:Childhood is a critical stage of brain development, so exploring the patterns and related influencing factors of brain development during this stage is of great significance. With the development of brain imaging techniques, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has become the preferred imaging method for children. This paper reviewed different MRI modalities (structural and functional MRI and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy), and roles of related brain imaging indicators in revealing the developmental patterns of children’s brain, and indicated current challenges of MRI studies in children.
