Abstract:Dyslexia refers to the phenomenon that children with normal intelligence and adequate neurological or organic conditions in the development process, have the significantly lower reading level than children of the corresponding intellectual level or physiological age. Dyslexia is the most common learning disorder among school-age children, accounting for about 80 % of learning disabilities. Orthography plays an important role in learning logographic languages such as Chinese. Chinese characters are made up of spatial arrangements of strokes and different strokes combine to form larger units called “radicals,”which may further combine to form complex characters. These are called orthography. Orthographic knowledge may be the crux of Chinese dyslexia. Nonetheless, the researches of orthographic knowledge are few and limited in China. In consequence we should carry out more researches on orthographic knowledge in China.
