Abstract Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a kind of neurodevelopmental disorder based on neurobiology, the pathogenesis of which is still unclear. Oxytocin (OT) is a cyclic ninepeptide molecule, which can regulate many physiological and psychological phenomena, such as learning, memory, social interaction, ingestion, digestion, blood pressure, and heart rate. In recent years, OT has become the focus of ASD research because of its important role in regulating social interaction in the central nervous system. This article summarizes the research progress of OT therapy on the social interaction behavior of ASD patients in recent years, hoping to provide enlightenment for domestic research and practice of related fields.
