Abstract Language disorder is a common developmental disorder in childhood. In China, it has not yet reached a unified standard for the diagnosis of language disorder. It has become an obstacle to the identification and treatment of children’s language problems, which is not conducive to the clinical practice and treatment of children with language disorders in China. The unified concept of language problems is necessary for the early detection and diagnosis of children and the early adoption of effective speech and language assessment and diagnosis measures helps to improve children’s language, social communication, psychological mood, and academic achievement. This article reviews the historical evolution and clinical practice of terms related to children with language disorders.
