Abstract This article describes and reviews the organization and methods of a three-year(2000 - 2003)interdisciplinary,multi-institutional cooperative research project entitled“Utilisation of Neuro-cognitive Science for the Improvement of Language Education in Hong Kong”. The project’s main objective is to improve the learning of Chinese(first language)and English(second language)by means of neuro-cognitively supported teaching methods in the schools in Hong Kong. The significance and limitations of the study are discussed.
