Effects of education efficacy on children's social skills: mediating role of parenting styles |

Abstract Objective To explore the effects and mechanism of education efficacy and parenting styles on children's social skills. Methods A total of 414 children were investigated by using education efficacy scale, parenting style questionnaire, and children's social skill questionnaire. Results The children with high scores in social skills had significant differences in education efficacy, pampering, democracy, indulgence, and inconformity with those with low scores in social skills. However, there was no significant difference authoritarianism between the children of high scores in social skills and those of low scores in social skills.Both education efficacy and parenting styles were significantly related to children's social skills. Parenting styles played a partial mediating role in the relationship between education efficacy and children's social skills. Conclusion The education efficacy has an indirect effect on children's social skills through the mediation effects of parenting styles.
