Abstract:Objective To explore the mechanism of the social support given by husband to wife during pregnancy from the perspective of behavioral experiments. Methods The point detection paradigm and gender-specific facial stimulation (male, neutral, and female) were used to investigate the genderspecific facial attention bias and its underlying mechanism in pregnant women. Results The response time of pregnant individuals under male face inconsistency condition was significantly longer than that under male face consistency condition; the difference between non-pregnant control group and male response time under male face consistency condition was not significant; the response time of pregnant individuals under male face inconsistency condition was significantly longer than that under neutral-neutral baseline condition. There were significant differences between the baseline condition and the male consistency condition. Conclusion During pregnancy, women tend to pay attention to male faces (including attention orientation and difficulty in getting rid of difficulties). Pregnancy makes women invest more attention resources in male faces.
