Abstract Bilingual cognitive advantage effect refers to the effect of bilingual experience on bilinguals’cognitive ability, which is one of the hot issues in the field of bilingual cognition. Results of studies show that the bilingual cognitive advantage effect has different characteristics in different age groups. It is easier to find the bilingual cognitive advantage effect in children and the elderly. Bilingual experience can promote the cognitive ability of children and delay the cognitive aging of the elderly. Based on the study of young people, the relevant researches show that bilingual experience can both promote and damage the cognitive ability of young people, and the bilingual cognitive advantage effect is not stable.
