Abstract Objective To explore emotional problems and neuropsychological differences between adolescents with internet addict and normal controls，and to provide evidence for further prevention. Methods sixteen adolescents diagnosed of internet addict and 16 normal controls were surveyed using self-rating anxiety scale（SAS）and self-rating depression scale（SDS）. Stroop test was applied to measure the cognitive function in these two groups. Results The scores of SAS（P < 0.05）and SDS（P < 0.01）questionnaires were significantly higher in internet addicted adolescents than in controls. The reaction time was longer and the correct rate was lower in Stroop test in the internet addicted adolescents than in controls. However statistical significance was not reached. Conclusion The internet addicted adolescents may have a tendency of anxiety and depression and their cognitive function may also have been affected.
