The importance of father support in breastfeeding has been widely concerned and recognized by researchers, but in the community and the family, its role has often been ignored. Father support helps the family to make the decision for breastfeeding, and to increase the rate of exclusive breastfeeding and breastfeeding duration. The program of promoting and implementing father support still need to be studied and practiced. This article is to review the important role, characteristics and intervention strategies of father support at home and abroad.
